Expo 2010 Status

The budget for an Expo 2010 was presented to the Board of Directors along with and outline of the
challenges the 2010 expo will face. This budget was rejected by the BOD and the fate of an Expo for next
year is in Limbo. I have a pretty good idea why they turned down the budget but it would be remiss of me
speaking for them and assume they will be informing the membership, in some way, the whys and
wherefore's of the matter.
Whatever the next step will be, if there is to be an Expo next year, there will have to be ACTIVE
membership participation. A committee has to be formed and a committee chair (in training) seated. If
there is no volunteers there will be no Expo next year. There is, in the club, a core number of members who
work hard at filling committee slots and chair positions. This resource has been stretched to the point where
without fresh volunteers for the Expo committee and a chair, there will be NO EXPO.
FACT - The club dues does not cover club expenses. The Expo is the primary fund raiser for the club.
Without the Expo the only other way to pay our way is to raise dues. My estimate would be a dues raise
to $55.00 per year to meet the shortfall and keep a cushion.
