CONGRATULATIONS to the MSBA!!!
Submitted by Jim Dow - Feb. 26, 2009

I'd like to start by saying CONGRATULATIONS to each and every member of the MSBA, last nights meeting
was truly a milestone that many organizations don't see. It is a testament to the members that we reached such
a significant place as this.

Each meeting is still a learning session for me and I assume it will always be. Last night was especially a thrill
for me with all of the special guests on the local and state level. That, along with hearing the people that you see
at the meetings actually get up there and speak of the way it was and hearing some of their stories was very
special for me. I have nothing but respect and admiration for the senior members of our club that have seen the
membership swell and decline over the years. Despite how things went, they stayed active in the club and
helped it become what it is today.

We are clearly more than just a fishing club, as Dr. Mike Armstrong from the Divison of Marine Fishereis
pointed out, we are a group of concerned activists, outdoorsmen, anglers and humanitarians.
I am very proud to say that I am a member of this club and talk it up each and every chance I get.

I think that a very special thank you and congratulations needs to go out to MSBA President Bill Prodouz for a
job well done in marking this milestone for us all a very special night that no one will forget. I know there were
several people that helped in the planning stages as well as the setting up and dismantling for the evening, all of
whom help with every club activity and event. It's the people like them, like Patrick, Wendy, Lenny, Jimmy R,
John Pollock, John Cherico, Mike G, George and others that keep the club heading in the direction that it
deserves to be heading, 700 more meetings and beyond!

A big congrats also goes out to James for winning the Van Staal reel as well. As bad as I wanted it, it was good
to see the look on his face when his name was drawn. James is always on the volunteer list so it was good to
see him win it.

I'd be remiss if I didn't acknowledge the special guests that made the time to come and help us celebrate this
historic event, thank you all.
Senator Robert Hedlund
