| A Big Thank You from the EXPO Committee On behalf of both myself and the entire MSBA Expo Committee, I want to say thank you to all of the people involved in getting through this year's show. From the new members that showed up to assist vendors to the guys that spend over 30 hours at the facility over the past three days, each one of you were just as important to once again making MSBA shine in the public eye and you all deserve the greatest applause and appreciation. We on the committee worked our tails off setting up what would have been a very profitable show except the weather coming in on Friday and Saturday hurt the public attendance at the door. Eleven booths were cancelled within 24 hours of the show but to those companies we say thank you as not one asked for a refund. The door numbers were horrible, off by almost 500 from last year but that could be expected with a Nor'easter on Friday and weathermen talking about hundreds of spin outs on Saturday morning. Unfortunately there is only insurance against cancellation and it was not bad enough to excercise that option. The good news is that once again MSBA is receiving praise for throwing a show based on the Salt Water Fishing Community and not the almighty dollar. To all of you involved, be very proud. On this coming Thursday, (March 22, Viking Club, 7:30pm, all MSBA members only), the Expo Committee will present the final financial numbers to both the E-board and the Board of Directors. The Expo Committee will also make a proposal for a 2008 Expo. The E-board and Board of Directors will then go into their separate process before bringing their decisions to the MSBA membership. This new process, as voted on by the membership should avoid any long and drawn out regular MSBA meeetings. Once again we thank all of the members that volunteered to make a successful event. Sincerely MSBA EXPO Committee |
