Cape Cod Leg of the Tri-State Tournament Is Over By Jim Dow The first leg of the Tri-State Tournament was held in Cape Cod from June 1-3, 2007. All participants met at the Town and Country Motor Lodge in Yarmouth for a group meeting on Friday night and the fishing began at midnight. Fishing was completed Sunday morning at 9:00AM, contestants were only allowed to fish for a total of 12-hours within that time frame. TEAM AWARDS The Plum Island Team came in first place with a total of 358 fish caught for a total of 358 points. The MSBA A-Team came in second place with 267 fish caught for a total of 304 points. The Stripers Unlimited A-Team came in third place with 171 fish caught for a total of 233 points. GROUP AWARD The winning group for this leg consisted of Mark Fulton and Tim Brooks from Plum Island and Bob Baranek, Bob Pizzi and George Costello from the MSBA. INDIVIDUAL AWARDS Tim Brooks from Plum Island came in first in the individual standings with 140 fish caught. The award for the most points for fish caught on a fly-rod went to Rich Whitten with 32 points. Mark Fulton won the Group Leader award. Overall, there were 1,106 fish caught and released over the weekend, 976 striped bass and 130 bluefish. ~CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THAT PARTICIPATED~ CLICK HERE to see some pictures from the weekend.
