THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!!
submitted by Jim Dow

Many of you had already heard that a friend to a few members of our club and an avid fisherman
fell through the ice while ice fishing and drowned in Duxbury
in February.

His name was Paul Greeley, he grew up in Hingham and was living in Whitman at the time of his passing.

Shortly after his accident, I got together with a couple of other friends of Paul's and organized a fundraiser to try
to raise some money for his 7-year old son and 4-year old daughter.
The event was held last Saturday night, we
had a good turnout and raised a significant amount
of money that was deposited into a memorial account that
was set up in his name.

Many businesses, organizations and individuals made donations for a raffle table that was to be set up at
the function.

I am grateful to the M
SBA and a few of it's members that really stepped up and made donations that made a
huge impact on the raffle
tables. I want to thank the MSBA for donating an AWESOME Penn rod and reel
combo, Mike Bousaleh
for donating a fishing charter aboard Ave' Maria, Bill & Jules for donating a fishing
charter and Larry Wentworth
of BigFish Bait Company for donating a bag full of custom handmade wooden lures.

If anyone would like to make a donation in Paul's memory
, they  can go to any Rockland Trust branch and tell
them
you want it to go into the Paul Greeley Memorial Fund. All of these funds go directly to his family.

The company that Paul worked for as a lineman, Northeast Line Construction Corporation, has also set up a
memorial
fund. The goal of this fund is to raise $50,000 to purchase a rescue boat for the Duxbury Police
Department in Paul's memory. The Duxbury police were instrumental in recovering Paul's body after his
accidental death. They worked tirelessly during the search; however, their efforts were hampered, due to the fact
that
the department had no rescue boat. They spent valuable time searching for a rescue boat to borrow. Having
its own rescue boat, available at a moment's notice, would enable the Duxbury Rescue Team to respond to
future water accidents more quickly.

Your contribution to this fund would be greatly appreciated.
