| A Newcomers View of the MSBA What I've seen in my short time here... I realize that this club and by default, this website, is a fishing forum to be used and enjoyed by anglers of all ages and backgrounds, but feel the need to add a small editorial. In my couple of months being affiliated with this fine club, it is clear to see why it has persevered as the oldest fishing club in New England open to the public. As a converted freshwater fisherman, I wish I had discovered this club long ago. The information and resources available to all members through personal interaction, club events and club media goes beyond what I could have imagined would be available. Aside from its vast library content and extremely informative monthly newsletter, every member of the club seems to have some story of past events and happenings of historical significance. I have never been a part of an organization that has so many people willing and wanting to help out in every possible way. The knowledge that can be obtained within just a few visits is just unbelievable. I have also realized how involved and extremely difficult it must be to run this club. Although it is not a single person that makes this club what it is, one of the things that impresses the most is the dedication of its members to do whatever it takes to make it work. I can only imagine the amount of time and personal sacrifice that so many people make for no compensation other than for the love of the sport. At the recent Annual Banquet, it became very apparent to me of the hard work, dedication and pride that so many of the members have in the club. On a night that should be fun and relaxing, there were the members that worked non-stop to make the event a great time for everyone else. Even with all the work that everyone had to do, not once did it appear that anyone was upset about having to work throughout the night. This is a tribute to a club made up of truly dedicated and giving individuals and I for one would like to thank them and say that I am very happy and proud to be a part of this club.
