MSBA Takes Part in the Cleaner Greener Quincy Project
May 3, 2008

Almost 2 dozen members of the MSBA members ahowed up to represent our fine club and help
the City of Quincy clean up Wollaston Beach as part of their Cleaner Greener Quincy Project.

There were about almost a dozen adult members as well as a dozen members of the junior members
program, the Striper Swipers that spent a raw sometimes cold day with a slight rain falling cleaning
up the area.

By the end of the clean up phase, we had signed up a handful of new junior members and had a few
adults show interest in joining. Overall, aside from doing the right thing for the environment, we showed
the area community that the MSBA is not just a fishing club, but a group of people concerned with the
outdoors.

After the cleanup was finished, a few members took advantage of our location and went over and took
some casts into the river. I didn't see many smiles or hear anyone bragging when they came back, so I
assume that all they did was practice casting, lol. At least they made the effort to wet a line and as we
hear from both Wendy and Bob B at our meetings, you can't catch a fish with a dry line!!!!!!!

The day ended with a cookout that was put on the City of Quincy. There was a huge turnout at the
cookout since the cleanup project was a city-wide thing. The Quincy Mayor, Mr. Thomas Koch
was one of the people manning the grilles so the endless line of volunteers could get fed.
They did a great job not only organizing such a large event, but also carrying everything out flawlessly.

~ Hats off to the City of Quincy and everyone that volunteered today ~
