RISAA Fifth Annual Surf Club Challenge

MSBA will sponsor a team for this RISAA (Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Assn) surf fishing
tourney which starts at 6PM Friday, June 6 and ends at 7AM Sunday, June 8.

There is no limit on number of MSBA members who can participate nor is any pre-registration needed. Any
dues paid MSBA member can fish with any other member, anywhere in Rhode Island, at anytime during the
tourney hours.  If you get a bass or blue you think worthy of an award you can enter it at any station noted below
and tell the weighmaster it is for MSBA.

The awards are 1) largest individual Striped Bass, 2) largest individual Bluefish and, 3) Team trophy for
combined weight of three largest Striped Bass and three largest Bluefish.

Awards will be made at a breakfast at 8AM Sunday, June 8 at the Homestead Restaurant, Rt. 2, Exeter, RI.
Cost $9 payable at the door.  This is an excellent chance to smooze with other members of MSBA and
sharpies from south of the border.

The weigh stations are,
   -Erickson's B&T in Warwick
-Quaker Lane B&T in North Kingstown
   -Snug Harbor Marina in Matunuck
   -Breachway B&T in Charlestown
   -Edward's B&T in Newport

This is a very informal tourney based on trust.  However, we will try to set up a cell phone network to alert
members to any action as well as the weight of entered fish so we are not killing fish needlessly.  For this I
would ask any member interested to email me with an estimated window(s) for their fishing, their cell phone
number, if they would like to go to the breakfast (so we can give RISAA a head count) and if they would like to
be linked with other members.  Look up your own tide tables and select your own likely hotspots.
The sooner I hear from you, the better. I can be reached at johnp38@verizon.net or 781-329-5273.
As we get close to June 6, I will email any further info to those who have expressed an interest.

Tight lines, John Pollock
