STRIPER SWIPER REPORT by Bob Pizzi
|
On Saturday May 3rd , the MSBA adults as well as the Junior Striper Swipers met with The Friends of Wollaston Beach to participate in the Quincy Cleaner Greener project. It was a cold damp morning, but that didn't stop over 25 MSBA members from cleaning up the Black Creek's end of Wollaston beach.
Coffee and donuts were seved as well as soft drinks donated by FWB. We cleaned up trash on the beach from 8;00AM until noon, made a few casts into Black's Creek , and then went to a fantastic cook out at the Quincy Arts center sponsered by Hanniford's Supermarkets, where we met the Mayor Koch and his family.
Four new Junior members were signed up at this event. Zoe Young of Cohasset, Zach 12, Jake 10, and Ryan 9 all family of Bob Burns of Randolph. They all received MSBA hats and Striper Swiper T Shirts.
This was a great event. Quincy Access TV was their and interviewed the Striper Swipers on camera, look for it on Quincy Cable!! VP Lenny Harkins organized our participation in the project and brought the MSBA trailer as well as new junior members. Jimmy Dow took great pictures of the event, click here to see them, they will also appear in the Spray.
There is a Striper Swiper meeting in Falmouth on Saturday May 17th at 9am, sponored by treasurer George Costello. This is a fishing trip, no clean up this time. Details will be on the web.
Also one of the guest speakers for our MSBA meeting on May 21st will be John Hoffman of The Fishing Academy, a non-profit Public Charity that teaches kids to fish, and he wants to meet all our juniors!
Please bring you Striper Swipers on that night.
