TRI-STATE FISHING TOURNAMENT NEWS

The first leg of Tri-State 2012 is history with MSBA winning the first leg. Plum Island Surf-casters were
second and Stripers Unlimited were third.
The weather was wild and some groups couldn't find fish in many of the usual spots because of high winds
and coffee colored water, but the group led by Steve Mantia did find the magic spots which is why he won
the High Individual Award and Group Leader Award. Mike Toole of Plum Island took Second High and I
won Third.
As usual, the fishing and the weather were fantastic just before the Tourney started, but a storm moved in
Friday night and things really got interesting. Groups that sought sheltered waters were able to find fish.
We had a Pizza Party at noon on Saturday and great raffle table supplied many of us with more plugs and
tackle. I was getting a little short myself.
The second leg of the Tourney will take place on Sept. 7,8,+9 at Old Orchard Beach at the Beau Rivage
Motel. Call early to reserve your room to get the Tri-State discount. Phone 207-934-4668 or
800-939-4668. If you wait too long the may not be able to hold the rooms and they have a lenient
cancellation policy.
